二、课程简介
中文简介:口译的主要教学任务是传授英语口译基础知识,对学生进行全面的、严格的基本技能训练,培养学生实际运用口语翻译的能力、良好的学风和正确的学习方法。教材选用应体现题材广泛、情景真实、语言经典、表达规范、操作容易、体现时代性、科学性、综合性、实用性、整体性、立体性、开放性和参阅性的特点。注重对学生基本技能和实际应用能力的培养。
〈〈英语口译教程〉〉以高等院校学生为主要学习对象,适合高校各专业本
科生或研究生的口译课教学。〈〈英语口译教程〉〉根据口译能力培训的基本要求
编写。
口译课属高起点的语言知识与技能学习课程,要求学习对象具有相当程度的英语水平,如达到大学英语六级水平或专业英语四级水平,尤其是英语耳听会意能力和口头表达能力应达到中级以上水平。
〈〈英语口译教程〉〉依据口译的职业要求、工作特点、题材范围、教学效果而取材编写,教材力求题材广泛、情景真实、语言经典、表达规范、操作容易,体现时代性、经典性、科学性、综合性、实用性、立体性、参阅性等特点。
〈〈英语口译教程〉〉按主题分单元编排,含上下两册,每册18单元,每单元含一个学习主题,全套教程共有26个主题,它们依次为“国际交流”、“风俗习惯”、“青年问题”、“教育理念”、“体育世界”、“商务会谈”、“女性话题”、“表演艺术”、“影视天地”、“音乐殿堂”、“经济组织”、“信息技术”、“旅游观光”、“交通运输”、“成功之道”、“饮食文化”、“社会生活”、“历史文明”、“走向社会”、“文化差异”、“地球危机”、“管理策略”、“法律事务”、“科技之窗”、“生命科学”、“网络时代”、“改革开放”、“外交风云”、“世界和平”。单元主题即单元主线,每单元的课文和练习都紧扣单元主题,如同颗颗珍珠为一条丝线所串联,似散实不散。
〈〈英语口译教程〉〉的上册含“口译技能”共18项,每单元推出一项口译技能,单元主题融合口译技能,口译技能立于主题内容之中。〈〈英语口译教程〉〉的下册含“口译用语”共18类,每单元推出一类口译情景,列举一些典型用语,旨在帮助学生掌握和熟用口译场合的一些常用套语。“口译用语“虽片言只语,但日积月累,滴水终能成河。
〈〈英语口译教程〉〉每单元的主要项目含“口译导入”、“口译准备”、“口译实践”、“课文注释”、“口译讲评”、“口译技能”(上册)或“口译用语”(下册)、“口译练习”、“参考译文”等。“口译实践”为课文教学部分,其中含“英译汉”和“汉译英”课文各一篇。有些单元的课文则以英汉交替口译的形式出现。“口译练习”含“句子精练”、“耳听会意”、“影子练习”、“连贯表达”和“词语扩展”这5项内容,其中“句子精练”系课文中部分句子的巩固练习,“耳听会意”旨在提高学生的听觉能力和笔记水平,”影子练习“作为一种同步跟读、跟说或跟译的方法,是培养学生口译实践能力的有效手段,”连贯表达“可用以提高学生的口头表达能力,”词语扩展“则向学生提供与口译主题相关的常用词汇,以利于学生的词汇积累。

三、课程性质与教学目的
新《大纲》根据十多年来国际、国内形势的变化和我国社会主义市场经济对英语专业人才的要求,明确提出了新的培养目标和规格,即具有扎实的基本功、宽广的知识面、一定的相关专业知识、较强的能力和较高的素质、面向21世纪的复合型外语人才。通过讲授口译基本理论、口译背景知识和训练口译的基本技巧,使学生掌握口译的基本理论和专题连续传译的技能,初步学会口译记忆方法、口头概述,口译笔记及公众演课技,以求学生能较准确、流畅地进行汉英对译。主要教学任务是传授英语口译基础知识,对学生进行全面的、严格的基本技能训练,培养学生实际运用口语翻译的能力、良好的学风和正确的学习方法。注重对学生基本技能和实际应用能力的培养。
口译课程教学不但要提高学生的口语翻译的业务素质,而且要培养他们的思想道德素质、文化素质和心理素质。在口译课程教学中要正确处理好业务素质教育和其他素质教育的关系,使它们有机地、和谐地融为一体。打好扎实的语言基本功,注重各项语言技能的全面发展,突出语言交际能力的培养。在口译课程的教学中要注重培养学生对文化差异的敏感性、宽容性以及处理文化差异的灵活性。
加强学生思维能力和创新能力的培养。口译课程教学中要有意识地训练学生分析与综合、抽象与概括、多角度分析问题等多种思维能力以及发现问题、解决难题等创新能力。在教学中要正确处理语言技能训练和思维能力、创新能力培养的关系,两者不可偏废。

四、教学内容及要求
口译课堂教学应以学生为主体、教师为主导,改变过去以教师为中心的教学模式,注重培养学生的学习能力和研究能力。在教学中要多开展以任务为中心的、形式多样的教学活动。在加强基础训练的同时,采用启发式、讨论式、发现式和研究式的教学方法,充分调动学生学习的积极性,激发学生的学习动机,最大限度地让学生参与学习的全过程。引导学生主动积极地利用现有图书资料和网上信息,获取知识,并使学生在运用知识的过程中培养各种能力。同时,要注意教学方法的多样性,要根据不同的教学对象、教学内容、教学目的和要求,选择相应的教学方法,并鼓励教师积极探索新的教学方法。
课堂教学要与学生的课外学习和实践活动相结合。课外学习和实践是课堂教学的延伸与扩展,是培养和发展学生能力的重要途径,应在教师的指导下有目的、有计划、有组织地进行。课外学习和实践活动应以课堂教学的内容为基础,激发学生的学习兴趣,
以及培养学生的学习能力、语言综合运用能力、组织能力、交际能力、思维能力和创新能力。活动应面向全体学生,注意发展个性,提倡人人参与,培养合作精神。

International Exchanges

some experience in presentation and interpretation.

Find out the basic
rules of an opening [a closing] address/ an address of
welcome. The purpose of doing so is to help students obtain
some knowledge of this kind of address, which will do them
good in interpretation.

Lead in
activity.
Each student
prepare 5 English vocabularies respectively and read them to
the partner twice at normal speed. Then the partner gives
the translation to the words. Students help each other in
correction.
Introduction to
what interpreters should do before the conference commences.
Briefly teacher gives the introduction in English so that
students know what they are going to learn and practice.

whether sentence B in each item is a correct paraphrase of
Sentence A. The purpose of this activity is to train
students’ comprehension of the sentences and their
translations.

Talk about vocabulary:
Introducing some extended vocabulary related to the
vocabulary
given. Encouraging students to think extensively and
cooperate with teacher orally. The purpose is to build up
students’ vocabulary so that they won’t feel embarrassed
when doing interpreting.

Texts comprehension:
Discuss the content of Text A by answering questions given
by teacher and interpret the answers to the questions by
other students. Try to go over Text B by interpreting the
meaning of the utterance given by partners. The purpose is
to train students the ability to remember as much meaning of
the content as possible.

practice of interpretation. Three of them act as interpreter
by turns. The purpose is to practice the skill of
interpreting.

Making sentences with the vocabulary in Text A and Text B to
be familiar with the usage of the expression.
3. Texts
comprehension:
Discuss the content of Text A by answering questions given
by teacher and interpret the answers to the questions by
other students. Do the exercise in page 53. The purpose is
to train students the ability to remember as much meaning of
the content as possible.

Practice memory. One student read the text paragraph by
paragraph and his/her partner repeat what he/she says. The
purpose is to train students’ memory.

interpreters who translate their views in either language.
Each time when one student speaks in one language, the
interpreters should translate the sentence or sentences in
another language, and vice versa. Each student should have
the chance to speak their opinion in both languages and act
as interpreter.
